February 1, 2019 - 9:00 am

In partnership with our sister organizations, Associated Grantmakers (AGM) in Massachusetts and Maine Philanthropy Center, GCRI is excited to offer a New England cohort Philanthropy 101 Series.

Philanthropy 101 is a five-part series that helps all staff new to philanthropy better understand the sector. Developed by the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy’s Grantmaking School team and Philanthropy New York and presented by AGM and Rhode Island speakers, the series will be offered in Boston beginning in Fall 2018 (remember Boston is only a very short train ride away!).

This interactive course will provide a historical overview of philanthropy, review leadership and governance, provide an overview of grantmaking, debate the current big issues in philanthropy, and explore the various roles within philanthropy.

Philanthropy 101 will take place the first Friday morning of each month starting in October 2018 and wrapping up in February 2019, and is relevant to staff in any position at a grantmaking organization. The series is a cohort-based program with the five modules building on each other, and participants are expected to commit to attending all five sessions.

This is also a great opportunity to meet and network with philanthropy peers from across the region.

Designed For:

Anyone who has joined the philanthropic sector within the last few years or is interested in a refresher; open to the entire range of disciplines within the field, e.g., Program Officer, Trustee, Finance, Grants Management, Corporate Giving, among others.

Pricing for Five-Part Series:
