Philanthropy 101 is a three-session series that helps all staff new to philanthropy better understand and work within the sector. Developed by the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy’s Grantmaking School team and Philanthropy New York and presented by Philanthropy Massachusetts, in partnership with GCRI, for the first time last year, this interactive course will provide an introduction to the field of philanthropy, helping participants to become more effective in their role as a funder.
Philanthropy 101 will consist of three full day sessions:  October 4, October 25 and November 15. This series is relevant to staff in any position at a grantmaking organization. The series is a cohort-based series with each session building off the prior one, and participants are expected to commit to attending all three sessions.
Designed For:
Anyone who has joined the philanthropic sector within the last 1 to 2 years or is interested in a refresher; open to the entire range of disciplines within the field, e.g., Assistant to the President, Program Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Controller, Human Services Director, Trustee, Program Assistant, among others.
Pricing for Three-Session Series:
GCRI Members: $200
Non-members: $300
Both a light breakfast and lunch are included in the cost of registration.

A 20% discount applies to each registration if more than one individual signs up from an organization. GCRI Members are eligible for thePhilanthropy MA member rate of $200, in addition to the 20% discount for more than one individual from an organization.
