Grantmakers Council of Rhode Island knows that we, as funders and philanthropic organizations who are committed to the Ocean State, are better together. Bringing our unique resources, missions and skills to the table can multiply our impact and result in lasting, positive change in the lives of individuals, families and communities. We come together to learn, collaborate, support and network. All with the goal of making a better Rhode Island.

Partnering Together in Unprecedented Times

In this time of crisis and uncertainty, our shared work and values are even more important.  Thank you to our GCRI members who have stepped up to support community efforts, and thank you to our community partners who are putting in long hours with limited resources to serve our most vulnerable neighbors.

Many of our members joined together to support the Rhode Island COVID-19 Response Fund led by the Rhode Island Foundation and United Way of Rhode Island.  Over $8.5 million was distributed to Rhode Island nonprofits on the frontline of the crisis.  GCRI members also raised $535,000 to support Census outreach efforts by community organizations around the state, to ensure that Rhode Island communities receive the federal resources they need to provide essential programs and services.

In 2020-2022, GCRI offered Funder Briefings for members to hear directly from Congressional, state, municipal and community leaders about pandemic-related community needs and response efforts.
