GCRI Member Coordination and Strategizing
A number of GCRI members have started to meet to strategize about concrete actions that philanthropy can take to support and protect civil society in Rhode Island. This effort just kicked off at the end of March. The next meeting will be held on APRIL 28th on Zoom, from 12-1 PM.

Navigating the Current DEI Legal Landscape
May 1st: 12-1 PM on Zoom. Co-hosted with Philanthropy MA, CT Council for Philanthropy and Maine Philanthropy Center.
Eleanor Evans of Hemenway & Barnes LLP will join us to review legal and practical issues foundations should be aware of regarding their own DEI initiatives and those of their grantees. Denise Porché, Executive Director of the Island Foundation will share her experience helping the Island Foundation and its board address these issues. We’ll have ample time for Q&A and will reach out to registrants to invite questions in advance.

Meet the Funders. An event for philanthropy and the nonprofit sector
May 12th: 5:00-7:30 PM Co-hosted with the Alliance for Nonprofit Impact
LOCATION: Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI, 500 Exchange Street, Providence RI
This event is offered annually, providing an opportunity for nonprofits to hear directly from 12-14 foundations and corporate philanthropy programs about their priorities and application processes. In addition to informal networking and refreshments at the start of the program, the format includes a round-robin of small group sessions, where the philanthropic organizations share their approaches and participants from nonprofit organizations have an opportunity to ask questions.
