Coastway Community Bank, Hasbro, IGT and Textron joined United Way of Rhode Island in its Annual Books Are Wings Spring Children’s Book Drive. Together with other community partners, these GCRI members and United Way gathered 39,990 books, which were sorted by 119 corporate and community volunteers on United Way’s Day of Action (June 18). Participation in this statewide collection effort continues to grow each year. In the last five years, 126,550 books have been collected. Books are distributed to summer learning programs to help prevent summer learning loss, and distributed to children at various community organizations to help children fall in love with learning.
